Male infertility causes

There are two factors that lead to male infertility: spermatozoa and systemic factors, systemic factors also significantly affect a man’s sperm.

Systemic factors causing male infertility:

• A history of trauma (trauma, testicular torsion, undescended testicle) increases the risk of azoospermia.
• A history of STIs increases the risk of male infertility.
• Age factor: too old (after age 55).
• Poisoning (lead, tobacco…), drug use, heat affects sperm quality and fertility.
• Factors related to the number of times of intercourse, the time of intercourse and ovulation.

Sperm factor leading to male infertility:

• The main cause of male infertility is low and weak sperm (21%), of which weak sperm (17%), low sperm count (12%); malformed spermatic cord (10%); Azoospermia was found in 9% of cases and 6% was azoospermia due to obstruction.
• Azoospermia due to blockage: accounts for about 10% of male infertility, caused by blockage of the vas deferens. Clinical manifestations are azoospermia, two normal testicles.
• Due to malformations: atrophy of the vas deferens, abnormal ejaculatory ducts, abnormal epididymis, polycystic epididymal dystrophy.
• Due to secondary obstruction: mainly due to inflammation (damage mostly between the epididymis and vas deferens, the main cause is sexually transmitted diseases), vasectomy trauma, inguinal hernia treatment surgery.
• Male infertility due to immunity:
• Immune male infertility is caused by the presence of antibodies against sperm. This antibody may be present in serum or in semen. In women, antibodies against sperm can be detected in cervical mucus. These are surface antibodies. These antibodies themselves do not cause infertility, but when combined with other factors, they cause infertility. In non-infertile couples, 1% of couples have this antibody.
• This rate is 3 to 15% in infertile couples, 30% in those who have had an infection or surgery in the genital area, 40% in couples who have experienced abnormal intercourse, 60% of people who have had a vasectomy.
